Accessibility statement
Awake.AI wants everyone who works with Port Vision Direct to be able to use it — with a mouse or a keyboard alone, a screen reader, screen magnification or voice control. This statement says how far the web app meets the accessibility standard, what does not work yet, and how to tell us about a barrier.
What this statement covers
The Port Vision Direct web app for port staff: signing in, the header and the navigation, and the pages Dashboard, Map, Port calls, Tasks, Infrastructure, Portfolio, Invoices and customers, Documents, Pilotage & towage, Security, Resources, Workforce and Statistics, as well as Configuration, User management, Audit log, Data manager and Ports & vessels.
It does not cover:
- the Port Vision Direct phone app
- the portals for shipping agents, service providers, contractors, companies and tenants
- platform administration
- PDF files the app creates — see “PDF files” below
The standard
We measure Port Vision Direct against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. That includes the web requirements of the European standard EN 301 549 (chapter 9), which refers to WCAG 2.1 at level AA.
How far it meets the standard
Port Vision Direct partially meets WCAG 2.2 level AA: most of it does, but the parts listed under “What does not work yet” do not fully.
Of the 55 criteria at levels A and AA, 50 are met or do not apply to the app, 5 are partly met and 0 are not met.
What does not work yet
These are the barriers we know of, each with a way round it until it is fixed.
Resources in a mid-size window
In a window between about 1024 and 1250 pixels wide, the Resources page cuts off part of the selected resource’s details and its map, also when text is enlarged. Make the window wider, or narrower so that the panes stack, to see all of it.
WCAG criteria: 1.4.4 Resize text
Map panels on a narrow screen
Below 1024 pixels wide, map panels opened at the same time can overlap, and the map has no pan buttons. Escape closes the latest panel; move the map with the arrow keys, the search, the saved views or In view → Centre.
WCAG criteria: 1.4.10 Reflow, 2.4.11 Focus not obscured (minimum)
Dashboard cards with wider text spacing
On a wide screen dashboard cards have a fixed height, so with increased line, letter or word spacing some widgets cut off their text. Make the card taller with Arrange, or open the page the widget comes from.
WCAG criteria: 1.4.12 Text spacing
Focus after some changes
After you remove a task dependency, a permit requirement or a link, keyboard focus can return to the start of the page’s main area instead of the next item. On a narrow screen, opening a port, vessel, fleet or user from a list shows it below the list without moving focus to it. On the dashboard, after you rearrange cards, the Tab key still goes through them in the order they were added.
WCAG criteria: 2.4.3 Focus order
PDF files
Invoices, reports and schedules can be downloaded as PDF files. These files are not tagged, so a screen reader cannot follow their headings and tables. The same information is on the pages of the app, and an invoice can also be exported as a CSV file or as an EN 16931 e-invoice.
How we checked
This statement is based on a self-assessment by Awake.AI: automated accessibility checks that run with the app’s tests, code rules that stop common mistakes, and a review of every page and of the main tasks — signing in, creating a port call, booking a service and invoicing it — against each WCAG criterion. The sign-in pages have also been tested by hand; testing the rest by hand with a keyboard, browser zoom and screen readers comes next, and this statement will be updated with what it finds.
Tell us about a barrier
If something in Port Vision Direct is hard or impossible for you to use, or you need information in another format, please tell us.
When you are signed in, open the Menu in the header, choose Feedback and pick Accessibility as the area.
It helps if you say which page you were on, what you were trying to do, and which browser and assistive technology you use.
If you are not happy with our response
If you use Port Vision Direct through a public-sector organisation, such as a port authority, its own accessibility statement says how to take a complaint further and which national body supervises accessibility.
